Buttermilk Chocolate with Chocolate Frosting:
This is a recipe based on the “secret” recipe of one of Jenny’s mother’s lovely friends. Threde was a consummate hostess who worked in the fashion industry. Jenny loved visiting her Aspen Alps condo, where Threde always showered her with attention. This was the cake that Jenny and her Viennese father and grandfather would always request her mother bake for special occasions.
Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting:
This recipe was a family favorite when Jenny was a child – especially for picnics to Ashcroft or other outdoor adventures — made by Jenny’s mother, and devoured by Jenny and her sister Carrie. Best enjoyed in the fresh mountain air.

The baker, Jenny Rose, was born and raised in Aspen, and thinks fondly of the Hollyhock as one of the quintessential flowers from her youth. She worked as a paramedic on Buttermilk Ski Patrol for many years, and now holds a Master’s degree in Nursing. While spending several years nursing in busy hospitals in Chicago and San Francisco, baking became her way to unwind and escape from the challenges of front-line healthcare work.
Jenny’s aim is to bring you delicious cupcakes and other baked goods with gluten-free ingredients that still taste as good as the original! The cupcake and cake recipes are updates on her family’s favorites.
